Ubuntu Kernel patched: solved bindsock issue on Domino servers

If you run a Domino, Sametime or Traveler server on Ubuntu than you might have recognized an issue during the last kernel releases that prevented to start http, ldap or any other task running a port smaller than 1024.

The Ubuntu kernel team solved that issue by implementing a workaround in the kernel because the main issue seems to be in bindsock library on domino side. Now we could run the up to date kernel release on Domino servers again.

Hopefully this workaround will not be removed in later kernel versions (again).

Received a Lotus Award for Outstanding Customer Satisfaction in Northeast IOT

IBM offers XPages Coruseware for free

IBM opens up to OCW (OpenCourseWare movement) and offers the material for their "Introduction to IBM Lotus Domino 8.5 XPages" course D8l55 for free @ Lotus Greenhouse. As Ed Brill, IBMs Director for Messaging and Colaboration, mentions this is IBM's step to support those, who want to start learn on xpages.

Notes/ Domino 8.5.2 und Traveler erschienen

Vor einigen Tagen ist die Notes/ Domino Version 8.5.2 erschienen. Neben einer Vielzahl von Verbesserungen sowohl auf Client als auch auf Serverseite wurde der Notes-Traveler jetzt auch erstmalig auf Linux portiert.

Die Unterstützung für den Android-Handys befindet sich zur Zeit in einer geschlossenen Beta-Phase und soll später dieses Jahr abgeschlossen werden. Der Traveler bietet jetzt einige zusätzliche Optionen. So läßt sich zum Beispiel per Policy einem User das Recht entziehen, die Kamera seines Geräts zu verwenden.

Nicht nur die bessere Performance sondern auch die Vielzahl der neuen Funktionen machen das Release zu einem must-have.

Lotus Notes 7.04 erschienen
